The Best-Dressed Stars at the King’s Trust Gala

Last night, with just 72 hours to go before the 2024 Met Gala, members of the Hollywood elite were attending one of two unofficial dress rehearsals in New York. There was the launch of Pharrell’s Titan jewelry line at the Tiffany & Co. flagship store–which saw Blake Lively, Rosalía, Rosé, A$AP Rocky, and Ayo Edebiri arrive swathed in crystals. And then there was the King’s Trust Gala at Casa Cipriani, which played host to Kate Moss, Emily Ratajkowski, Irina Shayk, Laverne Cox, Helena Christensen, and Iris Law. Just a handful of names that should (should) offer clues as to who will ascend the steps of the Metropolitan Art Museum on Monday evening.

The first annual gala since the Prince’s Trust Foundation changed its name to reflect King Charles’s coronation, it was hosted–as per tradition–by British Vogue’s former editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and Lionel Richie to raise funds for several of the organization’s chosen youth charities. With the possible exception of Kate Moss–who looked as though she might have been paying homage to her own Met Gala look from 1995 in her low-slung champagne robe–the traditional protocols of royal dress took a backseat on the night. EmRata appeared on the red carpet in a backless dress with a navel-grazing neckline, while Sam Smith wore a wipe-clean trench coat evocative of a cruel, nocturnal mistress, and rising supermodel Alex Consani posed in a nude-illusion slip.
