Want to Embrace the Pantone Color of the Year? Start with Art – Untitled Watercolor 1946 by Mark Rothko

For those who don’t pay attention to such things, the Pantone 2024 “Color of the Year” is Peach Fuzz. Very pretty, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we can find clothing in this color!

Our heroine is smitten with this painting, and she just knew that someone, somewhere, would eventually introduce clothing that would be perfect…

She knows full well that taupe is a miserably difficult color to find in clothing, so she’s prepared to wear white with her new accent color, if necessary. And she’s also willing to be persistent, and patient, in the hunt for taupe!

These are the colors she wants for her new wardrobe accent:

She’s not entirely sure how much of this new color she will purchase – she’s going to approach this gradually… A French 5-Piece Wardrobe (aka five items – clothing or accessories) might be where she stops, or she may venture further. It’s wise not to commit until you’re sure how much you love your newest love!

But right away she puts together this outfit:

This color is called “peony,” and she loves it! Although it’s not the color she usually thinks of for peonies; someone clearly has a different flower experience.

So she jumps in with three more garments, and the always wise gold accessory grouping:

She really loves her new striped shirt, so when she realizes that there are pants that match, she’s easily persuaded! It’s very possible, of course, that she already owns a white tee shirt…

And why not a sweatshirt and shorts? Many of these clothes won’t make it past the first cool fall day, but a sweatshirt (with her striped shirt under it?) is something she can wear any cold day. She will bring a bit of her summer warmth into the dead of winter!

Here’s the 10 garments and 14 accessories she has assembled. Yes, the wardrobe would be a prettier image if her taupe pants magically became white pants, but she really wants to start accumulating taupe clothes as they become available.

These clothes will, of course, make a nice Perfect 10 Packing wardrobe:

With a bit of judicious editing, one could easily whittle down the number of “Peach Fuzz” items to a French 5-Piece Wardrobe. Or if you find that your affection for this color is serious, add on more – there are no rules!

How can she wear these things? So many possibilities…

I’m in the process of adding a handful of things to my wardrobe in the elusive color “Purple Haze” from Colorful Standard. I love it…

love,

Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, I was still talking about florals! I thought I would try to break floral prints into a few categories, to make it easier for us to choose among them all.
